<p>Pro-Link GLOBAL will be attending the Forum for Expatriate Management's monthly networking meeting on 14 October.&nbsp; The focus of this meeting is virtual working.&nbsp; In many industries staff are increasingly internationally mobile and may work for consecutive periods in several different countries.</p> <p>Some employers are also actively encouraging home working but are they prepared for a UK employee to interpret home as being another country in the EU?</p> <p>The FEM has organised speakers who are expert in UK/international employment law and tax issues - there are no immigration experts presenting.</p> <p>Sophy King, Director Knowledge Management for Pro-Link GLOBAL will be in attendance, however, and will be happy to discuss the immigration implications of virtual working with other attendees.&nbsp; Pro-Link GLOBAL has a policy of virtual offices - we understand the challenges, and the benefits of working in this way, and we find the implications for immigration regulations very interesting.&nbsp; We're looking forward to the event!</p>

<p>Pro-Link GLOBAL was pleased to attend a forum with the UK Border Agency (UKBA) and the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) on Thursday 2 September, to discuss the proposals for a cap on net migration to the UK.&nbsp; The newly elected UK government intends to bring net migration down to the "tens of thousands" by the end of Parliament - i.e. by 2015.&nbsp; Net migration last year stood at 196,000.&nbsp;</p> <p>The event was attended by&nbsp;UKBA representative Ian Robinson as well as MAC representatives Stephen Earl and Vanna Aldin.&nbsp; On behalf of Pro-Link GLOBAL, Sophy King (Director of Knowledge Management) and Fabiano Bittencourt (Global Consultant) as well as Sarah Buttler (Pro-Link UK KGNM) were in attendance.</p> <p>The event was focused on business leaders and their responses to the proposed cuts.&nbsp; After presentations from the UKBA and MAC, business leaders discussed their responses at round tables hosted by immigration experts.&nbsp; Sophy King took the opportunity to&nbsp;offer Ian Robinson the benefit of Pro-Link's global experience and expertise.&nbsp;&nbsp;We&nbsp;are in a unique position to provide parallel examples of quotas, and of countries which have successfully reduced public concern with migration levels while minimising impact on business.&nbsp; Mr Robinson agreed that this data would certianly be valuable and welcomes our support and contribution to the UKBA's understanding of the issues around immigration quotas.</p>
